Ruben Topchyan, ANQA’s director and Varduhi Gyulazyan, head of the Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, introduced the main approaches and principles of self-evaluation of the English language modules tested in the EMI centers to the Erasmus+ SMARTI’s specialists of the partner Armenian HEIs (Public Administration Academy of the RA, Armenian National Agrarian University, Vanadzor State University and Shirak State University, Goris State University).
In an earlier workshop, ANQA’s specialists presented the KPIs of EMI centers’ activities.
The workshop's discussion was focused on the following:
- Satisfaction of students and teachers: What KPIs should be used to evaluate the stakeholders’ satisfaction with the activities of the EMI centers and modules?
- Full integration of English into the academic programme, lesson planning, teaching and examination processes.
- The number and results of EMI centers’ English-language academic programmes and courses, the number of participants and students involved.
- KPIs measuring the success of courses implemented by EMI Centers: What were the students' achievements upon completing the course, what outcomes were defined?
The template for self-evaluation that HEIs should follow was also presented.
Let us note that thanks to the Erasmus+ SMARTI project, five Armenian HEIs will have EMI centers that have undergone external review and will offer two English-taught modules. ANQA will be the coordinator of the process.
