The site visits by the experts to the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan and Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction have started. The site visits are implemented within the frames of pilot accreditation by the World Bank grant project. The process is coordinated by ANQA. For this reason, two separate expert panels have been set up which will conduct reviews at these universities based on the international standards. International experts from the Netherlands and Great Britain are also involved in the process. Doctor Klaas Van Veen is a professor at Leiden University, the Netherlands, and for many years has been engaged in training activities for teachers and quality evaluation. Richard Lewis was an invited professor in Washington University, also the prior president in the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).
Within the pilot accreditation, the HEIs have already submitted their self-assessments to ANQA using the required form, and the expert panels set up by the Center have studied these self-assessments. The site visit preparatory stage is completed, and the evaluation criteria and standards are developed. As a result of periodic meetings with ANQA staff members, an action plan has been developed for the expert panels to follow during the site visits. After the site visits the experts will finalize their observations and the panel chairman will present the final report.
Within the WB grant project the pilot accreditation project will be implemented in the 14 HEIs of the Republic of Armenia.
