What is the essence of the YSC new assessment system, what standards are applied and what is the role of the assessment in the educational system: these questions were on the agenda of ANQA director Ruben Topchyan’s meeting with the YSC acting rector Sona Hovhannisyan, vice-rectors, deans and heads of chairs?
YSC has developed a new assessment system. It has been tested for 2 years at the Piano faculty. As the results have been satisfying for the HEI’s administration, works are underway to apply the new assessment system in the whole university.
The peculiarities of the new assessment system were presented by the HEI representatives during the meeting. They stressed out that the multicomponent assessment is more objective and encourages students’ progress.
Mr. Topchyan highlighted the importance of progress-oriented assessment. According to him, the assessment should be a tool to evaluate student’s progress and encourage the acquiring of new knowledge and skills.
