The director of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Ruben Topchyan was elected a board-member of ENQA. The Board is the executive body of the Association and is responsible for implementing the decisions of the General Assembly, and for the overall management of the Association. Armenia is the first and the only post-Soviet country which is represented on the ENQA Board.
According to ANQA director Ruben Topchyan, this election shows the confidence of the EHEA community towards Armenia and its quality assurance system. “Our quality assurance system is in such a phase of development that hereinafter we can participate in decision making in EHEA”, says Mr. Topchyan.
According to him the General Assembly, while voting for his candidacy, has also taken into consideration that ANQA is the most active QA agency in the region: it cooperates with Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia.
The director of the National Accreditation Agency of Russia Lemka Izmaylova highlights the importance of the fact that Eastern Europe is represented on the ENQA Board by ANQA and its director Ruben Topchyan.
“Now the peculiarities and the values of Eastern Europe’s educational system will be available for Western Europe”, says she.
Note that on October 17-18 the 10th General Assembly of ENQA is being held in Yerevan. The election of ENQA Board members was held during GA.
