During May 6-10, as part of the Erasmus+ SMARTI project, a five-day training took place at the Riga Technical University, Latvia.
The training aimed to familiarise participants with the Riga Technical University’s English Medium Instruction (EMI) modules, descriptions and curricula for effective localisation of the best practices identified in the RA HEIs.
About 30 representatives of the EU and RA HEIs, members of the project consortium, participated in the training. ANQA’s specialists Meri Barseghyan from the Policy Development Division and Liana Alaverdyan from the Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, participated in the five-day training.
During the meeting with the project management, ANQA’s specialists presented the preliminary results from the external review of the EMI centres and the piloted EMI modules, emphasising:
- the creation of guarantees for the EMI centres’ continuous activity;
- the implementation of measures for the selection and development of human resources;
- the creation of opportunities for cooperation of EMI centres and dissemination of best practices.
During the training, the participants were introduced to the Riga Technical University’s experience in English teaching, curriculum development aligned with the European Qualifications Framework and English teaching opportunities to attract international students.
