During May 16-18, within the scope of a peer visit to Moldova, Ruben Topchyan, ANQA’s director and Anahit Terteryan, a specialist at ANQA’s Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, got acquainted with the country’s secondary vocational education system during the forum organized by the European Training Foundation (ETF). In 2017, ETF established the Quality Assurance Forum in Vocational Education and Training. It is a transnational collaboration initiative between national institutions with VET quality assurance mandates in sixteen ETF partner countries. The forum aims to support the modernisation and improvement of quality assurance in VET by providing the context and means for peer learning through transnational cooperation. Within the scope of the peer visit to Moldova, the participating countries observed the VET system, from institutional embedment to practical implementation. Furthermore, they also visited the Centre of Excellence in Informatics and Information Technologies, after which had meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova, coordinators of the VET sector and representatives of the sectoral accreditation committee. During these interactions, the participating countries’ representatives gave feedback on the Moldovan VET system’s positive aspects and areas in need of enhancement. In its turn, the Moldovan side found the partner organizations’ feedback useful and expressed satisfaction with the effective cooperation. Within the scope of the forum, the participating countries’ previous stop was Georgia, where they studied the process of students' skills formation in the VET sector. An evaluation of the VET system is also scheduled to take place in Armenia in 2024. The focus will be given to the presentation of the country’s best practices. The organization and implementation will be undertaken by ANQA together with other relevant organizations.
