On 14 May 2009 Arayik Navoyan, the vice-rector of the French University was invited to ANQA. A number of issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting. For the effective functioning of ANQA, the accurate comprehension by public of the word “quality” in educational sphere is essential, whereas in this case, according to A. Navoyan, this is an issue even in certain professional spheres. The guest’s viewpoint was that quality can be an efficient mechanism used by the state for the improvement of the educational system of the country. The accreditation process should be compulsory for all educational institutions.
“In this case there will be certain balance between the conditions of licensing and accreditation. In the case of licensing there should also be prerequisites for quality”, A. Navoyan said and noted the Indian experience as an example. He also mentioned that in the process of solving all these issues the state should follow the clear strategy of the educational system development where social-economic realities are taken into account. At the end of the meeting the parties agreed upon future collaboration.
