Today the final conference of the TEMPUS MAHATMA Project was held in ARMSPU. The stakeholders from Armenia, Georgia, and EU countries were attending the conference. ANQA was represented by the director Ruben Topchyan, Mahatma Coordinator in ANQA Varduhi Gyulazyan and Students’ voice project Coordinator Arusyak Harutyunyan.
Both Armenian and international guests highlighted the benefits of the program describing it as successful and effective.
Summing up the achievements of the project Mr. Topchyan highlighted the factor of the regional cooperation. Armenian and Georgian universities and QA agencies have cooperated within the program, conducted joint reviews and shared the best experience.
The next achievement, according to Mr. Topchyan is the fact that from the moment of the development QA tools were embedded in the academic programs.
One of the achievements is the foundation of the “International Association of Education”. Within the project, an internationally peer-reviewed journal, “Quality in Tertiary Education” is being published.
“All the bases are laid. We should go ahead and we will succeed”, said Mr. Topchyan.
During the conference, the quality assurance of “Education management” academic programs was summed up by Varduhi Gyulazyan. She presented the external review of the programs, best practices gained from the project, further development areas and benefits of the project for HEIs and external agencies.
Within the project 8 Master programs in the education management were developed at partner institutions from Armenia and Georgia with the support of 6 EU institutions and organizations. External review of the programs was conducted by the two country QA agencies to assure the successful implementation of the program.
The MAHATMA'S wider objective is to promote the transformation of higher education management in Armenia and Georgia through the introduction of a new Master's program/professional development courses in higher education management.
