Aiming to replenish ANQA’s pool of experts and developing expert capacities in the RA, on March 27-28, ANQA held a training course for the preparation of experts in VET sector, attracting 20 representatives of the teaching and administrative staffs from eight institutions.
As part of the course, there was a discussion on the capacities and skills that experts should possess. During the meeting, ANQA Director the Ruben Topchyan, emphasized that the experts should be able to:
- formulate questions that will identify the VET institutions’ best practices and areas for development;
- discover whether the VET institutions have a strategy for teaching students with different capacities, and mechanisms for the continuous development of teaching approaches.
- study whether VET institutions’ teachers are knowledgeable about and use digital tools, as well as evaluate their proactive involvement in enhancing academic programmes;
- analyse how the internal quality assurance system assures the effectiveness of the VET institutions' processes.
The discussions also focused on the credible award of qualifications, addressing the following areas:
- the role of formative assessment and feedback in shaping outcomes;
- students’ completion of assignments aligned with the employer context;
- the joint strategy with employers to use the resources and infrastructure for the production of specialists meeting the requirements of the labour market;
- the foreign language requirement to promote professional development and study best practices;
- the lesson planning as a tool for ensuring the teacher quality and attaining the defined outcomes.
On the second day of the training, the participants will also engage in practical tasks, conducting a pilot external review of a given VET institution and presenting their considerations and conclusion.
