On September 25-28, within the scope of the institutional accreditation process, ANQA’s expert panel is at the Gavar State Medical College. The chair of the expert panel is Asya Simonyan, a Candidate in Pedagogical Sciences, and a teacher at Shirak State University. The members of the expert panel are Naira Arshakyan, a teacher at the YSMU’s Chair of Pharmacognosy, Meri Sargsyan, Deputy Director for Educational Activities of Yerevan State Basic Medical College, Garik Sargsyan, a third-year student at the Department of Dental Technician of the Yerevan State Basic Medical College. The coordinator of the expert panel is Meri Barseghyan, the specialist at ANQA’s Policy Development and Implementation Division. Prior to the site visit, the expert panel had studied the education institution's self-evaluation report, and the documents attached and carried out desk review. On the first day of the site visit, the expert panel had meetings with the education institution’s director, employers, and alumni. The expert panel also conducted class observations and resource observations. In the following days, meetings will be held with the education institution’s teachers, representatives of students, the group responsible for the preparation of the self-evaluation report, and other stakeholders. Within the scope of the process, “professional talks” with the managers, teaching staff, and students of the Aps "Nursing", "Pharmacy" and "Dental Technician" are also planned. The next process coming after the site visit is the preparation of an expert panel report, which points out the strengths and weaknesses of the institution and contains the recommendations of the expert panel. Based on that report, the education institution will prepare a follow-up plan with a clear schedule. ANQA’s Accreditation Committee will make a decision whether to grant accreditation (for two, four, or six years) or reject it after studying the package of documents and holding meetings with the education institution’s representatives and experts. Let us note that this is the first accreditation of the Gavar State Medical College.
