On June 10, the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance (ANQA) conducted monitoring of academic programs at Yerevan State Medical University.
During the monitoring, ANQA representatives participated in the final attestation examinations. At the Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery, the future doctors subsequently demonstrated the necessary skills related to their professional activities, using for this purpose training devices, molds, phantoms, simulators, medical equipment, laboratory data, X-ray, medicine, raw materials, etc.
The students of the Faculty of Dentistry had the opportunity for their practical skill assessment, using the opportunities and training equipment provided by the University Center for Excellence in Dental Education. ANQA specialists participated in the theoretical part of the final attestation, as well as in the current electronic test examinations taking place at the university.
During the ongoing discussions with the responsible of the academic programes and lectures, ANQA director Ruben Topchyan particularly emphasized the importance of trainings on the assessment methods for teaching staff. It is also emphasized the formation of professional thinking, distribution of theoretical and practical courses and ensuring the outcomes, considering the specifics of the medical educational institution.
During the meeting with YSMU Vice-Rectors the directions of the forthcoming development of the university, the re-planning that took place in academic programs during the pandemic, the planned changes in the assessment system, the activities of the university aimed at program accreditation, upcoming challenges of resource improvement and Quality Assurance were discussed.
