On October 25-27, the ENQA General Assembly took place in Dublin. Ruben Topchyan, ANQA’s director, and Varduhi Gyulazyan, head of Institutional and Programme Accreditation Division, participated in the event.
The discussions revolved around the following issues:
- Recognition in the spotlight: Global Recognition Convention and focus on this topic from the European Commission, actions to support the implementation of these policies.
- QA and recognition in practice: exploring the practical links between quality assurance and recognition — what are the practical challenges for recognition within institutions, how can quality assurance help address those?
- Cross-border quality assurance: Many quality assurance agencies conduct activities outside the country in which they are based. What are the realities in this context, ethical considerations and challenges involved?
Workshops were also held to discuss their perspectives on the ESG, shaping ENQA's message to the 2024 Bologna Ministerial Conference in Tirana.
The key idea was to extend more trust and greater autonomy to the HEIs, given the presence of an effective external quality assurance system. It is crucial to maintain regulatory flexibility, ensuring that regulations do not restrict the HEIs, but rather foster innovative ways to achieve the defined outcomes.
Five new Board members were also elected. ANQA extends congratulations to its partners, conveying best wishes for productive work within the ENQA Board.
