What is the successful international experience in research-based education and what kind of problems are there in Armenian research-based education? These questions were the subject of a discussion which took place today at ANQA during the workshop on research and education.
Recently HERE study visit to London had taken place. The higher education reform experts had been introduced to the best practice in the professional development of staff in higher education. After the visit, Armenian higher education reform experts, ANQA director Ruben Topchyan and advisor to the MoES Samvel Karabekyan present the international best practice to the Armenian lecturers.
The “Research” standard of the institutional accreditation and the common problems in the sphere revealed during the first phase of institutional accreditation were presented during the meeting. The participants also discussed the possible solutions for the problems and the possibilities of localization of international successful experience.
The participants stated that the science had been separated from universities since the Soviet period. The HEI’s also don’t encourage researches. Because of these and a number of other factors the research component in universities is weak. The lecturers highlighted the need to include the research-based education in University strategy, to have research targeted curriculum and course plans. Also, the enrollment of all the students in researches should be ensured.
Soon one more meeting with the lecturers will take place where the successful international experience in other fields will be presented.
