On September 23, ANQA carried out monitoring of the internal quality assurance system at the Yerevan State Armenian-Greek College of Tourism, Service and Food Industry. Let us note that in 2023, the education institution was granted conditional institutional accreditation for a period of two years.
During the visit, meeting discussions were held with the education institution’s management staff, heads of chairs, teachers, students and quality assurance manager.
The discussions focused on the implementation of the follow-up plan, current achievements and potential challenges.
A reference was made to the following issues:
- the effectiveness of time distribution and teaching of general education subjects;
- the research component in the educational process, the mechanisms for promoting the research activities of students and teachers;
- the process of resource replenishment, the formation of practical skills in some professions amidst the shortage of laboratory equipment;
- the internship opportunities to get acquainted with the entire production cycle, and assessment criteria;
- the teaching of business foreign language, the level of foreign language proficiency of teachers and students;
- the operating mechanisms for identifying and responding to the needs of students and teachers;
- the education institution-employer cooperation and the subsequent enhancement processes;
- the benchmarking against other education institutions and academic programme enhancement.
It was highlighted that the education institution strives to create a culture of working in safe conditions among students, while also contributing to the students' capacity building and recruitment of teachers with practical experience through the cooperation with employers.
At the end of the monitoring, ANQA’s specialists identified the education institution’s best practices and areas in need of enhancement.
