Based on ANQA’s recommendations, by the Decree of the RA Government, the Statute on State Accreditation of Tertiary Level Institutions and their Academic Programmes in the Republic of Armenia has been amended.
According to the changes and amendments, the higher and vocational education institutions are awarded institutional accreditation:
- for a period of six years, provided that the expert panel report does not identify any shortcomings, the credible award of qualifications is ensured, there are examples of development and the governance system ensures the implementation of enhancement;
- for a period of four years, provided that the shortcomings mentioned in the expert panel report do not have a crucial impact in terms of the credible award of qualifications, sufficient grounds are laid for enhancements that can be implemented within four years;
- for a period of four years with conditions, provided that the shortcomings mentioned in the expert panel report may impact the credible award of qualifications, it is realistic to resolve these issues and implement enhancements within two years;
- rejection of institutional accreditation.
In the case of accreditation rejection, the tuition reimbursement and research funding are terminated from the next academic year.
These amendments aim to promote the enhancement of the education quality and the credibility of the awarded qualifications.
It should be noted that on March 1, 2025, ANQA’s Accreditation Committee will held a session to make decisions on the institutional accreditation of a number of education institutions in accordance with the amended Statute.
Based on the amendments, the Accreditation Committee's Decision-making Policy on the Award of Institutional Accreditation Accreditation Committee's Decision-making Policy on the Award of Institutional Accreditation has also been changed.
