Today an expert group site visit to the Armenian State Pedagogical University started within the institutional accreditation framework. On May 25-29 the experts will have meetings and discussions with the university rector, vice rectors, deans, heads of chairs, the self-assessment implementation team, the teaching staff, students, alumni, potential employers, and will make a resource review.
Four members of the expert group are Armenian experts, one of them is a student expert. The fifth member of the group is an international expert. The expert group chairman is Yelena Yerznkyan, Doctor of Philology, professor. The international expert is Alan Howe, Head of Education and Childhood Studies at Bath Spa University, UK.
The accreditation process is coordinated by the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation.
Before the visit, the university had already presented its self-evaluation, according to accreditation procedure requirements. After the visit, the expert group will sum up the results and the group chairman will make a final report. The university will make a follow-up plan based on the report. The last stage of the accreditation process will be the decision of the Accreditation Committee.
ASPU has already passed institutional accreditation process in 2011 with which the accreditation criteria and procedures were tested. Based on the experimental accreditation procedure the accreditation criteria were revised, finalized and the approved by the Government. And the university, according to its follow-up plan, has implemented improvement processes. Now ASPU has applied for a new accreditation with approved criteria.
