On 12 June 2009, the National Centre for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation (ANQA) was granted an associate status within the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) by the Board of the Association.
ENQA was established in 2000 to promote implementation of the Bologna process criteria in regard to quality assurance in higher education. Initially formed as the European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, the Association aims at promoting and enhancing quality throughout the transition period. Affiliation to the association is open to all quality assurance agencies of the Bologna signatory countries.
Representing our country in the Association, ANQA affiliation status will open opportunities for establishing official relationship with ENQA and collaboration with other European quality assurance agencies. Due to that affiliation status, ANQA can participate in ENQA events and be informed about all news and initiatives in quality assurance provision.
On 27-28 June, ANQA was hosting the ENQA president and international expert Bruno Curvale. The expert’s visit was aimed at evaluating the Centre’s capacity, effectiveness of its activities, developed documents, policies and procedures. During the two-day meeting with the Centre staff, ANQA strategy plan, mission statement, structure, and various documents were introduced and discussed. Various legal acts regulating the area and the Centre were discussed and the importance of the harmonization of the area was highlighted. B. Curvale considered the first months of the Centre’s activity to be rather efficient. According to him, ANQA recorded efficient and dynamic development: the Centre mission statement and the strategic plan were elucidated. At the end of the two-day visit an agreement was achieved on further collaboration.
