On November 5, ANQA and the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) signed a memorandum of understanding. The aim was to deepen the cooperation, contributing to the dissemination of the quality culture and the exchange of knowledge and practice within the educational systems of both countries.
During the signing of the memorandum, ANQA’s Director Ruben Topchyan highlighted that after its establishment in 2008, ANQA forged the first international cooperation with QAA, adding the memorandum is an opportunity to raise that cooperation to a new level.
The QAA’s Chief ExecutiveVicki Stott emphasised cooperation with ANQA as part of the memorandum of understanding will open up new opportunities in higher education for both countries.
This memorandum will enable the Armenian HEIs to apply for joint Armenian-British accreditation. Armenian and British experts will participate in the review process, bringing together quality assurance standards from both countries. Following the review, the parties will prepare a joint report with enhancement-led recommendations.
The memorandum also provides for:
- the organisation of professional trainings;
- the exchange of practice between the two countries;
- the implementation of joint projects,
- the promotion of student mobility.
This cooperation will boost the competitiveness and international recognition of Armenian HEIs. Let us recall that ANQA and the German Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) previously signed a memorandum to conduct joint accreditations.
