The advantages and disadvantages of distance learning were on the agenda of ANQA specialists meeting with students of medical universities.
The students highlighted the positive aspects of distance learning that they would like to be maintained after returning to traditional classroom education. According to them during the distance learning period, the teaching of theoretical topics has been enhanced and enriched with digital tools, thus resulting in the development of students’ analytical and research skills.
Due to the alternative methods of teaching, students can follow the surgeries and medical interventions online and get a comment from the lecturer in the process. But the lack of face to face contact with patients as well as a practical demonstration of professional skills is still an issue and can’t be replaced by online means.
The students offered to combine the distance and classroom lessons in the future and conduct the lessons in small groups.
ANQA director Ruben Topchyan encouraged students to have direct communication with lecturers, make proposals about teaching methods and courses, and participate in the search for alternative teaching approaches.
